This is the summer of Texas 4000! Texas 4000 is a non-profit student organization from the University of Texas that is dedicated to fighting cancer by sharing hope, knowledge, and charity across North America through a 4,500 mile bicycle ride from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska. I will be spending 70 days with 45 of my closest friends pedaling through deserts, mountains, cities, and everything in between. We will sleep in schools, homes, campsites, anything that's free. The ride is the eye catcher but the most important part of Texas 4000 is what we do when we are off our bike. As a team, we raise money for cancer research and give programs throughout the ride spreading the latest information in cancer prevention and research. I will be trying to post pictures, videos, daily comments on this blog, but I will also be updating my journal on www.texas4000.org.

Day 18 Prescott to Cottonwood

A day that will live in infamy, my knee was in a lot of pain again so I was SAGing with my teammate Kylee. We drove ahead with the trainer and had possibly the most frustrating day of our summer while our teammates had one of the best. After getting into Cottonwood we realized our travel information was wrong, we had no host for the night, and tried desperately to find a place to stay. Meanwhile the team climbed Mingus Mountain and spent several hours exploring Jerome an old mining town. In the end everything was figured out and we had a place to stay, but needless to say Kylee and I were jealous of our teammates and their adventures.
