It was a lot of fun to do the hakka in front of thousands of people!
This is the summer of Texas 4000! Texas 4000 is a non-profit student organization from the University of Texas that is dedicated to fighting cancer by sharing hope, knowledge, and charity across North America through a 4,500 mile bicycle ride from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska. I will be spending 70 days with 45 of my closest friends pedaling through deserts, mountains, cities, and everything in between. We will sleep in schools, homes, campsites, anything that's free. The ride is the eye catcher but the most important part of Texas 4000 is what we do when we are off our bike. As a team, we raise money for cancer research and give programs throughout the ride spreading the latest information in cancer prevention and research. I will be trying to post pictures, videos, daily comments on this blog, but I will also be updating my journal on www.texas4000.org.
Day 36 rest day in Davis: Volunteering for LIVESTRONG
Today we were volunteering at the Davis LIVESTRONG challenge. We meet so many inspiring people who are also dedicated to kicking some serious cancer butt.
After a day full of registering and cow bell ringing we went to a dinner with some of the VIPs (included a one Lance Armstrong). Our very own Ryan and Kylee were chosen to speak, we were very proud of them!

Day 35 South Lake Tahoe to Davis
Day 34 Rest Day in South Lake Tahoe
Day 32 Austin to Fallon
Day 31 Eureka to Austin
Day 24 Grand Canyon to Kenab Utah!
Day 3 of camping, but it's not nearly as beautiful as the Grand Canyon and there is no where to hike. We are a little bored... resorted to painting each other's nails.
Day 21 Tuba City to Page
Day 20 Flagstaff to Tuba City
I'm riding again and it was a 78 mile day my longest for the summer! Today we got to see how versatile Arizona is going from snow covered peak to sand dunes.
Day 19 Cottonwood to Flagstaff
I made another attempt at riding which worked out because we had to SAG again due to construction, but I was fortunate enough to ride through the beautiful Sedona.
Day 18 Prescott to Cottonwood
A day that will live in infamy, my knee was in a lot of pain again so I was SAGing with my teammate Kylee. We drove ahead with the trainer and had possibly the most frustrating day of our summer while our teammates had one of the best. After getting into Cottonwood we realized our travel information was wrong, we had no host for the night, and tried desperately to find a place to stay. Meanwhile the team climbed Mingus Mountain and spent several hours exploring Jerome an old mining town. In the end everything was figured out and we had a place to stay, but needless to say Kylee and I were jealous of our teammates and their adventures.
Day 17 Camp Verde to Prescott
In the cute town of Prescott we got to stay indoors and shower to the first time in a couple days!
Day 16 Tonto National Forest to Camp Verde
The ride was very short and mostly downhill and the parts that were downhill were VERY downhill so I was given permission to ride!!
We made it to Camp Verde in no time
We were all entranced by the beauty of the Arizona sunset

Day 14 Show Low to Tonto National Forest
The roads got very dangerous about half way through the day so we had to SAG the team which is always a drag but we broke the news with lots of donated pizza so everyone was dancing and in high spirits in no time.
We arrived at Tonto National Forest for our first ever camping day!
